Mark Watson is Vice President and Director of the Center for the Advancement of Data and Research in Economics (CADRE) at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. Mark provides leadership, direction and oversight of all technology systems and business functions supporting CADRE. Mark has led the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City efforts to develop expertise in High-Performance Computing, parallel data warehousing technologies and big data initiatives. The role of the center is to support, enhance, and advance computationally or data intensive research in economics and to stimulate and data driven economics research while promoting the use of database & data mining technologies. Working at the Bank since 1997, Mark has continued to grow professionally and excel into many leadership roles.

Mark holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from the University of Missouri Kansas City and studied ceramic engineering at the University of Missouri Rolla.

Mr. Watson provides service in the community through his fraternity membership of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated. He is actively involved in helping non-profits organizations with computer technology. Additionally, he is serves in various ways with the Tenth District and through the Bank leading and participating committees and workgroups that support data and IT efforts.

Considered a leader, role model and mentor, Mark is greatly respected by those he works with at the Bank and throughout the system. Mark consistently demonstrates the highest standards of integrity, is highly motivated with an amazing work ethic and is driven to succeed in everything he does.
