Division Chair – Social Science and Business Division


Dr. Crystal Johnson is the Division Chair of the Social Science and Business division at MCC-Maple Woods campus. Dr. Johnson has been with Maple Woods for eleven years. In her current position as the Division Chair, she oversees course scheduling, division budget, and student concerns. In addition, she continues one of her passions of teaching students in the classroom and online.

Prior to Dr. Johnson venturing into academia, she worked for Allen & O’Hara and College Park Communities as a Marketing Director and Resident Manager. She led a staff of nine resident assistants and one resident director and oversaw the marketing budget for Naismith Hall- a private residence hall at the University of Kansas. She has a member of the NCBAA (National Council on Black American Affairs) and LDI (Leadership Development Institute) scholar.

Crystal is committed to the mission of MCC of preparing students for academic success, serving the community and creating opportunities. She serves on the HLC Steering Committee, District Curriculum, and the National Learning Community Conference Planning Team. She is also highly involved in her local church.

Dr. Johnson embodies the attributes that make for a good leader, role model and mentor. She embraces creating opportunities to be a mentor and role model to her students Dr. Johnson has the motto that you always have room to learn and grow.
